Chaudefour Valley walks

Walk from the campsite (for good walkers)
Route: Chaudefour Valley (complete loop)
- Distance Approximately 12 km (complete loop), moderate gradient.
- Duration 4 to 5 hours, depending on the pace.
- Departure From the campsite, head towards Chambon-sur-Lac, then follow the signs for the Chaudefour valley (you can leave from the reserve car park, about 30 minutes' walk from the campsite).
- Highlights: Listed nature reserve, volcanic landscapes, preserved flora and fauna, views of the puys.
- Council Bring water, hiking boots and avoid hot days for this long version.
Excursion by car + walk (circuit of the valley floor, 2h round trip)
Route: Chaudefour Valley Circuit
- Access by car : Drive to the reserve car park (about 10 minutes from the campsite).
- Walking distance 4 km round trip (approx. 2 hours).
- Highlights: A shady trail, ideal for hot days, passing close to the river and surrounded by woodland.
- Council Perfect for families with children, with little change in altitude and a well-marked trail.


Waterfalls walk (3h, shady, easy for families)
Course : Chaudefour Valley Waterfalls Loop
- Distance 6 km (loop), approx. 3 hours.
- Highlights: Several waterfalls, shady path, ideal for hot days, varied scenery (forest, rocks, water).
- Council Departure possible from the reserve car park. Bring a change of clothes for the children (who will be walking near water).
Practical info
- Access The Chaudefour valley is around 5 km from the Serrette campsite (10 minutes by car).
- Car park Several pay car parks at the entrance to the reserve.
- Card Available from the campsite reception or the Chambon-sur-Lac tourist office.
- Security Well-maintained trails, but bring sun cream, water and a cap even in the shade.

- For a long, sporty hike: the complete Chaudefour valley loop (12 km).
